Builders
Care has branched out to other communities in Florida.
The
Lee Building Industry Association's (BIA) charitable arm
Builders Care in Ft. Myers, and their local sub-contractors
will remodel Linda Philander's home. Linda is a 60-year-old
woman living with arthritis. She can no longer work and
is on a fixed income. Linda
said the pain never goes away, but finds strength to guide
others.
Over the past
25 years, Linda was a foster parent to more than 30 teenagers
along with raising her own four children, as a single parent.
During those years, Linda worked two jobs to feed the children
she fostered.
"Linda touched
our hearts here at Builders Care," said Heidi Davis,
executive director the BIA Builders Care. "We are thrilled
that we can give back to her a little bit of the enormous
love and support she has shown to less fortunate children
in our community."
On Tuesday, Jan.
22, at 10 am, BIA will kick off this worthy project. Several
subcontractors are donating the materials and will assist
in tearing down an exterior wall that is causing severe
leaking in the family room. They will also be pouring in
a new driveway replacing her current pebble driveway. Local
builders and several volunteers will also paint the exterior
of the home, replace windows and put in gutters.
On Friday, Jan.
25, at noon, Linda's new home will be unveiled. See below
for photos and make sure to check back to see the finished
results.
